The 2017 Town of Taos Christmas Season officially kicks off with the lighting of our Town Christmas tree during the 31st Annual Yuletide Caroling and Tree Lighting on Friday, December 1, 2017, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Taos Plaza.  Join Mayor Dan Barrone, our Council and the wonderful community of Taos at this annual event!  This year we honor our living tree as Mayor Barrone and family bring in a beautiful tree to be placed on the Plaza from our local forest!


Events includes:  Welcome by Town Manager Rick Bellis, Invocation and Holiday Greetings by Ruben A. Romero (Taos Pueblo Governor), and Curtis Sandoval (Taos Pueblo War Chief), Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive by fire truck handing out treat-filled stockings to children, once again donated by the Taos Optimist Club Elves.


Music and merriment provided by the Mariachi Jaguar Encantado, Mystic Dance, Ballet Taos present a teaser performance of “A New Mexico Nutcracker”, and our Annual Electric Light Parade with participants from all over Taos!


Join the Fiestas de Taos Royal Court as they welcome in the Christmas season, as the Town of Taos Management Team Lights the Plaza Farolitos. 


Mayor Dan Barrone will welcome in the season with a special Holiday Greeting and the Countdown to the Lighting of the Plaza.


Complimentary cookies and hot chocolate will be served. 


Take your picture with Santa!  2 ½” x 4” photo, $3.00 for 1 or 2 for $5.00.  Proceeds benefit the Town of Taos Employee Recognition Team.


Christmas wreaths will be available for $35.00, small trees for $65.00 and large trees for $135.00.  All items come with pre-strung lights.  Proceeds benefit Dream Tree Project.


Edu@Work Café from Taos High School will be providing the food concession.  The menu includes: Posole with Pork and Red Chile - $7.00, Green Chile Corn Chowder - for Vegetarians -$5.00.  Hot entrees will be served with whole wheat flour tortillas, gluten free Chile and Chowder.  Pumpkin rolls will be available for - 1/2 size $8.00, Full size $16.00 and Coffee for $1.50. 


Parking and vehicular traffic will be closed as we get ready on the Taos Plaza from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM; however, the Taos Plaza Merchants will be open to foot traffic. FREE event parking will be available at our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Loretto Parking Lot, Town Hall, and Taos Public Library. AFTER 5:00 PM all metered parking lots will be free. For handicapped parking and for people requiring ADA access to the event, there will be extra parking at Guadalupe Parking Lot and the area next to the McCarthy Parking Lot directly behind the old County Courthouse.
