KEYNOTE PRESENTATION                         ANTONIA GARCIA

She will offer the perspective of someone whom has had a DWI and been through several New Mexico DWI programs and processes.

PANEL 1-ARREST AND LAW ENFORCEMENT This panel includes representation from the NM State Police, Special Investigation Division (SID), Taos County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Taos Police Department. Topics may include DWI laws, BACs, how an arrest is determined, what physically happens during an arrest, detention & release, and liability for the arresting officers.

PANEL-2 CASE DISPOSITION It will include a judge, prosecutor, defense attorney, public defender, ankle bracelet provider and a compliance officer. This panel will examine questions involved with sentencing, serving time, looking at the case and factors when involved with the courts.

PANEL-3 IMPAIRED DRIVER CARE MANAGEMENT AND DRIVER EDUCATION

The processes will explain the process of program involvement from beginning to end from the perspective of care managers, education instructors and directors/managers.

PANEL-4 IMPAIRED DRIVER SERVICES PROGRAM Will discuss considerations for individual and group outpatient treatment with DWI offenders and intensive outpatient treatment programs. There will be representation from each of these types of services involved with the panel. This panel will also include medication assisted treatment such as methadone and related considerations with this population.

PANEL-5 LICENSE RESTORATION This panel will include American Interlock concerning use of the interlock devise. The New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division will discuss how to get your Ignition Interlock License and when to get your Regular License back.

 

Students Input To The DWI Problem In Taos County Hear the insights of the youth from our community on the problem with DWI and their ideas on how to address the problem.
