Full Time Staff Position
Under general supervision, the Education Specialist works closely with the faculty and staff of the Taos Education & Career Center (TECC) to design, deliver, and evaluate innovative and evidenced-based curricula. Primary responsibility is to teach students with below college-ready skills (including those students who may have a high school diploma), the reading, writing, math, and professionalism skills needed to excel in college and careers. The Education Specialist also provides students with one on one advising to further support their journey of High School Equivalency (HSE) attainment, entry into college, successful completion of a college certificate program, and gaining a meaningful career. This person coordinates curriculum development among fellow teachers and tutors, and serves as the lead in facilitating program activities. In addition, this position includes administrative duties such as, monitoring program revenue and expenses, coordinating student testing and intake, promoting outreach and public awareness initiatives, and assisting in general program management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans and designs curricula for educational programs; researches and defines educational goals, objectives, and methodologies to meet program goals.
Able to teach critical HSE subject areas: math and language arts, from foundational to college-ready levels.
Monitors program/project revenues and expenses; may develop or participate in the development of funding proposals for the program.
Coordinates activities of support staff, consultants, faculty, and/or volunteers engaged in implementation and administration of program objectives.
Provides student advisement and coordinates support services.
Assists with grant and/or proposal writing as appropriate to the objectives and funding nature of the program; may participate in other fundraising activities.
