TAOS ALIVE IS A COMMUNITY EFFORT TO REDUCE SUBSTANCE ABUSE AMONGST YOUTH IN TAOS COUNTY
- Mission: Taos Alive Coalition unites the community to plan and implement strategies that prevent and reduce substance use and its consequences among Taos County youth.
- Vision: Taos County youth will live in a community that is safe, secure and drug-free.
We are excited to announce that our Taos Alive Staff Members are currently in Washington, D.C. for the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) National Leadership Forum. CADCA’s National Leadership Forum is a 4-day conference packed with multiple adult and youth-oriented opportunities to learn the latest strategies to fight substance abuse and hear from nationally-known experts and policymakers with a full day dedicated to Capitol Hill events. The Forum is held in the Washington, DC area every year, normally the first week of February and brings together more than 2,700 participants representing community anti-drug coalitions, government leaders, youth, addiction treatment professionals, researchers, educators, law enforcement professionals, youth and faith-based leaders.
Taos Alive Coalition uses the Strategic Prevention Framework that Target the Community Environment because Youth Substance Abuse is such a large topic, we want to be discerning in making sure we are not just solving the symptoms of Youth Substance Abuse, but rather changing the Environment to solve the problem in the long run.
