  • Mission:  Taos Alive Coalition unites the community to plan and implement strategies that prevent and reduce substance use and its consequences among Taos County youth.
  • Vision:  Taos County youth will live in a community that is safe, secure and drug-free.

Holy Cross Hospital's Taos Alive Coalition, works with Organizations that have  a common goal to create a thriving, substance -free environment for our youth. Although Taos Alive Coalition focuses on reducing substance use, we understand that the problems our youth face are a complex web of related issues, which is why we often collaborate with organizations outside of 'teen substance abuse'.

This past month, Taos Alive supported Help Outreach Taos to raise awareness about suicide prevention, outreach programs, and other community services. The event was successful in bringing families, children, teens and young adults out for a fun event where they could learn more about the mental health resources available in Taos. Visit our Lit Life In Taos Instagram Page to view our Photo Project, "What's Your Spark?",  in which youth express their passions through positive messaging.

We are proud to announce that you can now learn how administer NARCAN  from our Taos Alive Staff Members, Julie Bau & Miles Bonny.  NARCAN® Nasal Spray is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of an opioid emergency such as an overdose or a possible opioid overdose with signs of breathing problems and severe sleepiness or not being able to respond. For more information, please contact Julie Bau or Miles Bonny who became trainers, this past month, for teaching others to administer Narcan.

International Overdoese Awareness Day
August 31st, Taos Alive  will be remembering those who have past from an overdose at Taos Plaza Live.
If you have lost a loved one or know someone who lost their life due to an overdose, we invite you to bring flowers or photos if you would like to place them on the cross that will be near the stage.

International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is a global event held on August 31st each year and aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of a drug-related death. It also acknowledges the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have met with death or permanent injury as a result of drug overdose.
