August 2017 Newsletter

AUGUST  2017

  • Mission:  Taos Alive Coalition unites the community to plan and implement strategies that prevent and reduce substance use and its consequences among Taos County youth.
  • Vision:  Taos County youth will live in a community that is safe, secure and drug-free.
In the last month, Taos Alive Coalition has seen an increase in collaboration of organizations in our community. In our meetings, there has been a distinct discussion of how the Taos Specific issues of Teen Suicide and Teen Substance Abuse are closely linked.

Between the recent "Teen Suicide Prevention: Panel Discussion" hosted by Golden Willow Retreat,  the ongoing events & Radio show  put on by "See Something, Say Something" about Teen Suicide Awareness & Advocacy, the upcoming "Carnival of Life" hosted by Help Outreach Taos, along with our research and implementation work at Taos Alive- it is obvious that there is a correlation of what our Taos Youth reach to for forms of coping or escape.

Below, is a video about Addiction & Alienation that helps to unveil why it is important to raise awareness & create community surrounding these sensitive topics.  To learn more abut our Strategic Plan or to Get Involved with the Taos Alive Coalition visit TAOSALIVE.ORG

Love Your Community Award
For the month of August, Taos Alive is awarding Rodney Gross of  TriCounty Community Services with the Love Your Community Award. We recognize the positive changes Rodney Gross is bringing to TriCounty by making services more available to community members who are battling with substances. By offering options of healing the whole person, TriCounty is helping to heal the community as a whole.
