 February 2017

We have a full month of meetings, Youth focused events and collaborations with Taos Organizations.  Our Alcohol Policy Workgroup will begin working with The Learning Lab of Rocky Mountain Youth Corps to teach students about Media Literacy and deciphering Alcohol Advertisements. This Month, Taos Alive is excited to release #LITLifeInTaos, an Activities Newsletter for our younger community members, creating an 'online hub' for teens to learn about events, classes, or youth groups in Taos. Also this month, our Rx Drug Safety Workgroup is working  with local programs to create a Rack Card of important Emergency Contacts that can be passed out at Youth Events & Schools.

This month we are pleased to feature the #DOSOMETHING event hosted by SEE Something. SAY Something., a suicide prevention advocacy campaign made for teens by teens. This campaign and mobile app concept aims to raise awareness, engage teens and support (locally and nationally) services providing crisis intervention.

Taos Alive Highlight
Love Your Community Award
Taos Alive has been recognizing businesses or individuals who have aligned with our vision of uniting as a community to create a safe, secure, and substance abuse free life for Taos youth with the "Love Your Community Award." On 2/1, Taos Alive was proud to recognize Taos County Solid Waste for their good work to provide a comprehensive solid waste collection, diversion, and disposal system, in the interest of the health and safety of all county residents. In addition, this past year for Earth Day Clean Up, they collaborated with Taos Middle School by painting beautiful artwork on the waste bins which are currently at Filemon Sanchez Park.
